kecksburg revisited on ground zero: live with stan gordon

The 1965 Kecksburg UFO sighting remains one of the top incidents in history. Clyde Lewis writes nice summary of the Kecksburg Acorn "FALLEN ANGEL CASE: KECKSBURG 2011," asking all the right questions. Lewis sees a possible connection to 1947 Roswell craft, sent to Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio and the Kecksburg, PA incident. The Kecksburg UFO with " hierogylphs" on its base, was  hauled away on a flatbed truck in a matter of hours after the late afternoon crash of December 9. A truck driver reported, two years later, a large delivery of ceramic bricks to Wright Patterson, where he saw "the acorn" and left with impression bricks were meant to entomb the object. John Murphy, news director at nearby WHJB, was one of first to reach the site and produced a documentary, "Object in the Woods."

Murphy received a visit by two "Men in Black," just prior to airing and never seemed the same to coworkers. A highly edited version of the documentary was only televised. The newsman grew despondent and reluctant to speak of the incident.  By February 1969, Murphy was dead, killed by a hit and run driver while on vacation. Men in Black, had also, been on hand shortly after the crash to turn people away. John Murphy's fate remains one of the most shocking and sinister aspects of the incident.

The Kecksburg Acorn dismissed, at times, as re-entry of a acorn-shaped  Russian satellite, Cosmos 96  The Russian angle would help account for unreadable writing on the UFO.  Other sources contend Russian satellite re-entered hours earlier in Canada. Lewis includes reference to Victor Schauberger, Nazi-era German scientist, who felt descriptions like the acorn were his repulsine design.

You can make it a Nazi UFO movie weekend with Nazi UFO Conspiracy and The Aldebaran Mystery. The first film, a well done survey of Nazi high tech, introduces viewer to great inventors of the Third Reich. Werhner von Braun may already be a familiar name as an early rocket scientist. Nazi UFOs goes further with obscure but important names: Jet pioneer Hans von Ohain, Victor Schauberger, Alexander Lippisch and the Horton brothers. A brief history of American UFOs begins with 1947 sightings at Maury Island and by Kenneth Arnold three days later, also, in Washington state to be followed just a few weeks later by the Roswell case. The 1965 Kecksburg, PA "acorn" UFO recovery by the military and its similarity to "Die Glocke" (the Bell) is discussed. The film suggests Nazi UFOs may be result of a search to solve oil dependency and find an aircraft capable of take off without a 800 ft runway. Igor Witkowski, Jerry E Smith and Bill Sweetman participate in film. The best Nazi mystery, left for last, is disappearance of Hans Kammler, who departed in a six engine Junkers 390 in April 1945 and never seen again.


The Aldebaran Mystery is a collection of legends by Jim Nichols of UFOTV.com. Aldebaran is a star 65 light years away in Constellation Taurus, Vril Society psychics Maria Orsic and Sigrun communicated through telepathy with inhabitants in the planetary system there. The extraterrestrials directed instructions to the psychics through automatic writing to build a spacecraft. German secret societies influence went to the very top with rumor the Fuhrer consulted on an attempted space flight through a wormhole to Aldebaran in 1945. Nazi UFO myths are alive and very entertaining.

kecksburg ufo: non-believers vs believers

At 4:45pm on December 9, 1965, many reports of a fireball flooded phones at WHJB radio in nearby Greenburg, PA. Robert Gatty wrote the following story that appeared in the Tribune-Review the next morning, "Unidentified Flying Object Falls near Kecksburg — Army Ropes off Area," Authorities informed residents at the site, it was a meteor crash. By the next day, both, local authorities and the US government denied anything fell and nothing found! Stan Gordon, a 16-year old in 1965 and riveted to radio and TV coverage, marked a beginning of four decades of research into the Kecksburg incident.

Gordon provides perhaps the best description of the object. "...large enough for a man to stand inside of it. The object was a bronze-gold color, and appeared to be one solid piece of metal, displaying no rivets or seams. At the back of the acorn shape was..the bumper area.  Upon this area were unusual markings that..looked similar to ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics."

The following conclusions are made by Gordon after extensive interviews, "based on the accounts of multitudes of eyewitnesses which I have interviewed, I am convinced that an object did fall from the sky and apparently was removed by the military. Other witnesses say they saw NASA personnel at the scene that night also involved in the search".

A Sightings episode covers "bitter controversy" of a coverup and animosity between believers and non-believers in the Kecksburg UFO. There are professionals who argue for a meteor, "The Fireball of December 8, 1965-Part I," and others such as James Oberg argue debris from Kosmos 96, a failed Russian satellite.

Leslie Kean, an investigative reporter, provides a recent summary of the Kecksburg controversy, "Forty Years of Secrecy: NASA, The Military and the 1965 Kecksburg Crash<," and adds a couple of updates. In 2003, it was determined damage to top of trees in the woods near Kecksburg confirm something crashed there. Kean also cites Nicholas Johnston, a leading orbital debris expert, who asserts time of crash eliminates the Russian satellite. The present writer believes the strongest argument of an important event, is the fate of John Murphy, a WHJB reporter, who produced a radio special, "Object in the Woods". The WHJB office manager at the time reveals on this UFO files episode, Murphy received a visit by government men and lost all enthusiasm for the project and aired an edited broadcast.

The Wikipedia entry adds, "after the airing, Murphy became uncharacteristically despondent and completely stopped all investigation on the case and refused to talk to anyone about it again, and never gave clear reasons why. In February 1969, Murphy was struck and killed by an unidentified car in an apparent hit-and-run while crossing a road. The hit-and-run occurred near Ventura, California while Murphy was on vacation." Murphy's fate, irreconcilable differences among Kecksburg residents and numerous debunking efforts, are strongest arguments, for a government coverup of an important retrieval event!

nazi bell: sci-fi or secret weapon?

Bill Hanks, a Yahoo contributor, asks questions about Nazi Bell technology in brief article, "Nazi Bell; Science Fiction or Secret Weapon?" Hanks wonders about the disappearance of SS General Hans Kammler, the man responsible for the Bell project and its vast documentation? One rumor has both loaded on a cargo plane to the United States or South America?

Hanks provides a nice summary of the physical principles. "The Bell device consisted of two counter rotating cylindrical containers. The containers were positioned one above the other. They were filled with both cryogenically cooled and frozen Mercury metal. There was a frozen core of a metallic paste, which served as a high permeability material for an electromagnetic gravitational field also called vortex compression."

After the war, Hanks points out similarities between the Nazi Bell UFOs and George Adamski's classic films and the the 1965 Kecksburg, PA sighting. Also, Betty and Barney Hill related, while under hypnosis, the aliens they encountered looked like Nazis in uniform! Hanks concludes by calling the disappearance of Hans Kammler and the Bell technology, "one of the unknown mystery's of our time"!
