'The Cryptoterrestrials: A Meditation on Indigenous Humanoids and the Aliens Among Us'

Is there a superior race who lives among us? Are they a fragile and sickly lot with high cheekbones and large eyes? Have they interbred with us in an attempt to reinvigorate their kind? Do they deceive us into serving them, in other words, enslaved us? Mac Tonnies, a young writer, looks for them in a posthumously published book, "The Cryptoterrestrials." Cryptoterrestrials (CTs) are viewed similarly to and get categorized in with the Ultraterrestrials of authors Jacques Vallee and John Keel. Ken Korczak summarizes the details in "Ultraterrestrials: Do They Walk Among Us?" CTs engage in deception, it's suggested, as a series of ruses to cover true vulnerabilities. A review of Tonnies' book suggests our co-inhabitants are challenged on a couple of fronts: "(A) the appearance of a "debilitating genetic syndrome" that ravaged their society; and (B) the rising infestation of a violent species that threatened to eclipse - in number - their own society." Filmmaker Jay Weidner and author Anthony Sanchez offer their views on "the Cryptos" in a recent Project Camelot interview (at 1:00 hour mark). Weidner believes aliens are only concerned with keeping their existence hidden and profiting off of humankind - that's it. Weidner and Sanchez believe Cryptos are capable of capricious acts of violence in pursuit of their goals. Sanchez believes he's been recently poisoned by a Crypto and Weidner suggests Sanchez may be getting too close? Legendary Writer Ray Bradbury Dies At Age 91

Science Fiction Legend Ray Bradbury dies at age 91 in Los Angeles after lengthy illness during a rare Transit of Venus on June 5th. A YouTube video (at left) is a relatively early biography in 1963 of Bradbury and it provides nostalgic insight into a still vigorous writer. The half-hour bio includes frames of key punch cards for younger audience who've never seen them. Bradbury is admired for being his own man, who shared feelings about technology in a late 2011 BBC News article: "'We have too many cellphones. We've got too many internets. We have got to get rid of those machines. We have too many machines now.'" Mythology only makes sense if the Earth's skies appeared differently to ancient sky-watchers. area 51 loses mystique for some after accusations of hoax

from bookbuzz: Just the term "Area 51" sets UFO theorists trembling with excitement. This week, a book titled Area 51 enters the list at No. 27. Author Annie Jacobsen interviewed 74 people including 32 who worked and lived at the secret Nevada military facility (which the U.S. government has never admitted exists). Area 51 covers the history of the Cold War, but the reason it's climbing the list faster than aliens swarming a spaceship? Jacobsen's jaw-dropping claim about a flying saucer which reportedly crashed in July 1947 in Roswell, N.M. The pilots weren't aliens but Russian or German children and teenagers who were surgically made to resemble the Martians in Orson Welles' 1938 The War of the Worlds radio broadcast, the book claims. Jacobsen says Stalin may have secretly collaborated with Nazi Josef Mengele in hopes of spreading panic in the U.S.

kevin mitnick: phone phreak, social engineer

Kevin Mitnick gained notoriety, following his arrest in early 1995 after a nationwide pursuit. People are familiar with Mitnick as a computer hacker, who gained unauthorized entry into networks at Sun Microsystems, Nokia, NEC, Fujitsu Siemens among others. In 1982, Mitnick first received national attention for breaking into NORAD computers, which helped inspire the 1983 film "WarGames" The former hacker, turned computer security consultant, however, also had a career as a phone phreak and plied his social engineering skills. Phone phreaking was in fact Mitnick's first fascination, it's the act of gaining unauthorized access to a telecom network. Blue boxes were often used to gain access. "Blue boxes use a 2600hz tone to size control of telephone switches...The caller may then access special switch functions, with the usual purpose of making free long distance phone calls, using the tones provided by the Blue Box."Mitnick alleges Jobs and Wozniak of Apple fame used to make the boxes.

Less familiar to the public, Kevin would supplement his technical skills by engaging in a little social engineering to dupe unwitting targets out of passwords or other useful information. Mitnick is credited with popularizing this technique. While having gone legit, Mitnick remains a star in the hacking community. Mitnick's pure compulsive love for the pursuit of unauthorized network access and his subsequent prosecution, are possibly the reasons for his cult status.
